For measuring optical rotation of a substance in solution as an indication of its concentration. Test sample is placed in measuring tube of known length between light source and analyzer. Focusing adjustment is turned until measuring field changes from two half shadows into one field of equal brightness. Degree of rotation is read from graduated scale and translated into terms of concentration with reference tables. Setting errors are as low as ±0.03º. Readings can be taken to nearest 0.1°. Includes sodium lamp light source, half circle scale (0 to 90º right and left) 3X magnifier, vernier, transformer and 200 mm measuring tube. For 110V, 60 Hz.
